As a breastfeeding mum, I found it extremely challenging preparing formula bottles when my daughter suddenly refused to breastfeed. Many of my friends and other parents I spoke to at playgroups had their own ways of preparing quick bottles through the night. It became clear that many of us were simply trying to find faster ways to manage feeds while exhausted. In those moments, convenience often takes priority, and I realised many families may not be aware of the safest preparation methods recommended in New Zealand.

I often found myself getting up in the middle of the night to prepare bottles, worrying not just about the water temperature, but also how long it would take. Preparing a bottle in the early hours of the morning (most of the time multiple times a night) waiting for it to heat or cool was exhausting and made it even harder to get back to sleep.
